Research Theme
The overarching goal is to investigate human impacts on carbon, pollution, water, and energy fluxes using observations as key constraints! In our rapidly changing climate, our generation faces key challenges related to the carbon and water/energy cycles: mitigating anthropogenic and pyrogenic emissions while enhancing carbon sequestration and ensuring food security while coping with water scarcity. We are equally interested in the technical tools needed to tackle these questions, including atmospheric transport and chemistry modeling, inverse modeling, satellite remote sensing, and machine learning. Here are specific research questions about these climate-sensitive systems:
๐ง ๐พ Agricultural Land (water usage, soil emissions)
๐ฅ Fires (wildfires, urban fires, prescribed burns, fire-induced weather)
๐ Bridging Carbon and Air Pollutants
๐ ๐ณ Urban Carbon (fossil fuel combustion, vegetation)
